Nyhavn in the evening

The short version

If you want to eat, come before 21:00: the kitchens we have hours for mostly close at 21:00–21:30. Hyttefadet serves dinner until 22:30 and Brasserie Nyhavn 17 until 22:00. If you want to stay on, seven places are open until midnight or later, and McJoy's Choice is open until 02:00 Monday–Thursday and until 03:00 Friday–Sunday.

Who is open late?

The places' own opening hours in the winter half of the year, sorted by who closes last. The kitchen closes earlier than the place, so the last column is the one to look at if you are hungry.

Hummer is open every day until midnight up to and including 31 October; the winter hours apply from 1 November. The bar at Brasserie Nyhavn 17 says it is open until midnight and until 01:30 at weekends, while the restaurant is open until 00:30. We have not been able to confirm hours for Hong Kong Bar and Klods Hans, so check with the place.

Dinner after 21:00

Of the kitchens we have hours for, only two are open until 22:00 or later: Hyttefadet until 22:30 and Brasserie Nyhavn 17 until 22:00. Nyhavn 41 serves dinner until 21:30, and Gorm's and Havfruen keep the kitchen open until 21:30 on Friday and Saturday. The others close at 21:00. We have not found kitchen hours for Marleys, Heering and McJoy's, so ask at the table.

When does the sun set over Nyhavn?

Sunset and dark on the 15th of each month, Danish time. Between sunset and dark there are 37–61 minutes, and that is when the canal is at its most beautiful: the houses stand in blue light and the lights come on in the windows.

Canal tours in the evening

The canal boats do not sail late. The Netto boats are open until 20:00 in July and August, until 18:00 from 26 March to 30 June and until 17:00 in September and October. From 1 November to 25 March they sail 10:20–15:00. If you want to see the canal in evening light from the water, July and August are the only window. See canal tours from Nyhavn.
