Aparthotel or private apartment?
An aparthotel is a hotel with a kitchen or kitchenette in the room. A private apartment through Airbnb, Vrbo or Booking.com is usually someone's home, and the rules for private letting below apply.

Airbnb and other platforms: the rules
A private person may let their own home for no more than 30 days a year. When the letting goes through a platform that reports the rental income to the Danish Tax Agency, the limit is 70 days. This is set out in the Danish act on letting property for holiday purposes (section 5), and Copenhagen has not raised the limit. There is no tourist tax in Copenhagen: in 2025 the Danish parliament rejected a proposal to allow municipalities to charge one. According to the City of Copenhagen, there were just under 2.2 million overnight stays through Airbnb and similar platforms in 2024, against 11.3 million in hotels, and most of the letting is in the inner city, where Nyhavn is.

How we chose
We only included places within a 1.5 km walk of the quay, and each one was checked on its own website in October 2026. The walking distance is our own route measurement to the nearest point on the quay. We have not ranked the places, and nobody pays to be listed. See them all, sorted by distance to the quay.
Can you rent an Airbnb in Copenhagen?
Yes. A private person may let their own home for no more than 30 days a year, or 70 days when the letting goes through a platform that reports to the Danish Tax Agency.
Is there a tourist tax in Copenhagen?
