Read the menu before you sit down

It is perfectly normal to read the menu and the prices before you sit down, terraces included. If a dish of the day has no price, ask what it costs.

Tipping is not expected

In Danish restaurants, service is included in the price, so tipping is optional. If the service was good, you can give a little extra, but it is entirely up to you.

Book dinner at weekends

On Friday and Saturday evenings the quay is full. Book a table ahead so you do not end up at the first free table, or look across to the shade side with the even house numbers, where it is quieter. Map of Nyhavn

Get the view for less

The cheapest way to enjoy the view is a coffee or a beer on the quay. Then eat wherever the price suits you. Cafés · bars
