At the end of Nyhavn opens Kongens Nytorv — the city's grand square, home to the Royal Danish Theatre and the Magasin du Nord department store. The metro stops here. Under a minute's walk.

Amalienborg & the Marble Church

A few minutes north lies Amalienborg, the King's residence, with the changing of the guard around midday. Just behind it rises the dome of the Marble Church. About a 5-10 minute walk.

The Opera House

Across the harbour stands the Opera House, designed by Henning Larsen. You can see it from the promenade — or take the harbour bus over. Best as a view and an evening trip.

Christianshavn & Broens

Across the Inner Harbour Bridge you'll find Christianshavn's canals, the Broens street-food market and the entrance to Christiania. A few minutes across the bridge.

Strøget & the old town

West begins Strøget, one of Europe's longest pedestrian streets, leading into the old town past the Round Tower. About 5 minutes to the start.

Kastellet & the Little Mermaid

Furthest north along the water lie the star-shaped Kastellet fortress and the Little Mermaid. About a 25-30 minute walk.
