Autumn exhibitions at Kunsthal Charlottenborg26 September 2026 – 21 February 2027 (season opening 25 September, 17:00–22:00). Two solo exhibitions — Amalie Smith and Jochen Lempert — open concurrently at Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Nyhavn 2), the building at the head of the quay.
Always in September: The locals return, the light turns golden, and the art season opens at Charlottenborg.

Copenhagen Culture Night (near Nyhavn)9 October 2026, 18:00–24:00. Over 250 cultural institutions open for the evening across the city. Kunsthal Charlottenborg by Nyhavn has historically taken part — its 2026 line-up is not yet published.

Broens Ice Rink opens (near Nyhavn)opens 30 October 2026; last season closed 22 February, and the 2026/27 closing date has not been announced yet. The ice rink at Broens Gadekøkken sits just across the Inner Harbour Bridge — visible from Nyhavn and a five-minute walk away.
Always in October: Autumn colours and the school half-term — and the winter activities start opening.

Nyhavn Christmas Market2026 dates not announced yet — the market usually runs from early-to-mid November until just before Christmas (2025: roughly 5 November – 21 December). Small Christmas-decorated stalls along the canal with gløgg, æbleskiver and decorations. Free to wander — you only pay for what you buy.
Always in November: Gløgg and æbleskiver on the quay as the Christmas market goes up and the facades get decorated.
13DEC
Santa Lucia kayak parade13 December — the same date every year; singing stop at Nyhavn around 17:15. Several hundred illuminated kayaks paddle the canals in the evening, with singing stops including Nyhavn. Free to watch from the quay — arrive early, it gets crowded.
31DEC
New Year's Eve by the harbour31 December. There is no official fireworks display at Nyhavn — the fireworks are private, and the quay is a popular unofficial gathering spot around midnight. Expect crowds and amateur rockets; atmospheric, but not an organised event.
Always in December: Christmas in full swing: decorated townhouses, Lucia lights on the water — and New Year to finish.
Always in January: The quay's quietest weeks — winter light over the canal, and the Broens ice rink still running.
Always in February: Winter-holiday weeks and the ice rink's final stretch — and the best coffee weather on the quay.
Always in March: First signs of spring: the sunny side starts catching afternoon sun, and the light turns soft for photographers.

Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition2027 dates not announced yet — the exhibition runs every year in April-May (2026: 11 April – 10 May). Denmark's longest-running open, juried art exhibition, at Kunsthal Charlottenborg at the head of the quay.
Always in April: Outdoor tables creep back out, and the canal-tour season picks up.
Always in May: The sunny side in full swing — dinner outdoors and bright evenings.

Distortion — harbour party at Nyhavn2027 dates not announced yet — the festival runs around Constitution Day, 5 June (2026: 3–7 June), with the free harbour parties, including at Nyhavn, on Constitution Day itself. The city's biggest street festival. On Constitution Day it moves to the harbour with free parties along the quays — Nyhavn is one of the named locations.
23JUN
Midsummer Eve (Sankt Hans)23 June — the same date every year; 2027 programmes not announced yet (2026: bonfire in the canal by Nyhavns Færgekro at 21:00, and a celebration at Ofelia Plads across the harbour). Midsummer bonfires and communal singing. At Nyhavn the bonfire is lit in the canal itself, and Ofelia Plads holds its own celebration with a concert and bonfire speech.
Always in June: The lightest month of the year: long evenings on the quay, and the water full of boats.

Copenhagen Jazz Festival in Nyhavn2027 dates not confirmed yet — the festival runs 10 days from the first Friday of July every year (2026: 3–12 July). Nyhavn has hosted jazz since the 1950s. In 2026, Apollo Bar / Charlottenborg (Nyhavn 2) was an official venue, putting concerts right in Nyhavn.
Always in July: Jazz across the city and peak season — come early or late in the day if you want the quay a little to yourself.
Always in August: Late summer and mild evenings — outdoor dining still in full swing along the canal.
